I paint presence, light, and life. Light is often my point of entry: it reveals a face, crosses a landscape, or transforms an ordinary moment into a felt experience.
I seek neither to idealize nor to dramatize. I look for truthfulness — in an inward gaze, an unguarded gesture, or a colour that quietly carries emotion.
Portraiture, nature, and landscape all emerge from the same quality of attention. Painting becomes a way of staying with what is alive long enough to convey something true.

In a face, a gesture, or a landscape, I seek what is fully there without imposing itself: an inner life, a quiet dignity, a moment that does not need to be explained.
The living world
People, animals, flowers, and landscapes call for the same attention. To paint them is to recognize their singularity and the connection that attentive looking can create.
The intention
