About
Painter · Quebec, Canada
I am a Canadian painter based in Quebec. My work explores light in all its forms — light on a face at rest, light filtering through a summer morning, the inner light of those I have the privilege to paint.
I work primarily in oil and pastel. These two mediums allow me to capture what I seek: a presence, a suspended moment, something alive.
What interests me is not to faithfully reproduce what I see, but to convey what I feel when facing something that deserves to be seen slowly.
Mediums and practice
I work primarily in oil on canvas for portraits and contemplative works, and in pastel for natural light scenes and children's portraits.
Each medium has its own way of revealing light. Oil allows for slow depth, a layering of glazes. Pastel captures something immediate, almost aerial.
